What Is Flux Video Upscaler?

Flux Video Upscaler takes an existing video and increases its resolution by 1.5x, 2x or 3x. Use it to finish clips generated at 720p, or to bring older footage up to the size your edit needs. It works on video you upload, so you can run it on any clip, whether or not it was made in Artlist.

What Flux AI does that matters for production work

Flux AI’s image generator combines text-to-image creation, image editing, and multi-reference workflows in one system. It responds to prompts and visual inputs together, adjusting outputs based on context and structure.

  • Start from text, a reference, or both

Describe your idea or upload a reference image (depending on the model). Flux AI adjusts composition, color, and style based on what you give it, without just copying the input.

  • Readable text in any language

Add accurate text directly into your images. Useful for YouTube thumbnails, movie posters, and localised ad creatives.

  • Multiple variations in one run

Generate 4-6 images per prompt. Small phrasing changes across a batch surface approaches you wouldn't land on with a single generation.

  • Refine without starting over

Adjust prompts or swap references (when supported) and re-run from where you are. Each iteration builds on the last. No need to rebuild the image from scratch every time something needs to change.

Expert tips for using Flux 2 models

Use the following tips to ensure output matches your original idea as closely as possible, from structured prompts to switching between models.

  • Separate subject, setting, and style

Chaotic prompts produce chaotic outputs. Breaking your prompt into clear elements gives Flux a structured input to follow. For example: “Lone cyclist, night, wet pavement, neon reflections, cinematic.”

  • Give each reference a single job

When multiple references cover the same ground, the model has to choose between them, and outputs get unpredictable. Dedicate one reference to identity, one to lighting, and one to setting. The clearer the input structure, the more controlled the result.

  • Shorter prompts often outperform longer ones

Flux tends to prioritize core visual elements over long descriptive instructions. For example, “Red coat, rainy street” can outperform heavily detailed cinematic prompts.

  • Run batches before committing to a direction

Generate up to 6 images at a time (4 for Pro Ultra) and use the spread to evaluate, not just pick. Small prompt variations across a batch will surface approaches you wouldn't have landed on by running a single output at a time.

Frequently asked questions

Flux AI is a family of image and video generation models by Black Forest Labs, each designed for a different stage of the creative process. Artlist's AI tools include the Flux.2 image models, Flux Pro Ultra, Flux 3 Image, Flux 3 Max for video, and Flux Video Upscaler for higher resolution.

Flux 3 is a model family on Artlist with two models: Flux 3 Image, which generates and edits images up to native 4K, and Flux 3 Max, which generates 5 to 20-second video. Unlike the Flux.2 family, which focuses on still images, Flux 3 adds video, and Flux 3 Image improves layout control and text rendering.

It depends on your project stage. For fast visual exploration, start with Flux.2 Flash. For iterative concept development, use Flux.2 Dev. For balanced speed and control, try Flux.2 Turbo. For production-ready image assets, choose Flux.2 Pro or Flux Pro Ultra. For text-heavy visuals and edits in native 4K, use Flux 3 Image. For video, use Flux 3 Max, and use Flux Video Upscaler to raise a finished clip's resolution.

Flux AI’s image models generate marketing visuals, product photography prototypes, social media creatives, concept art, and brand assets with accurate text rendering in multiple languages. Flux 3 Max extends this to AI video, with text-to-video and image-to-video clips of 5 to 20 seconds and native audio, and Flux Video Upscaler raises the resolution of existing clips by up to 3x.

Yes. Flux 3 Max can generate audio together with the video, so sound is native rather than added in a separate step. You can switch audio off if you prefer to add your own sound.

Yes. With Artlist’s free trial, you get a limited number of generation attempts with the AI image and video generators. These can be used to preview Flux AI models inside Artlist’s AI tools.

For still images, Flux Pro Ultra produces the highest-fidelity photorealistic results, with support for cinematic aspect ratios including 21:9. Flux.2 Pro is a strong runner-up, supporting up to 10 reference images for consistent product and brand visuals. For video, Flux 3 Max generates clips of 5 to 20 seconds at up to 1080p.

Yes. Beyond Flux AI, Artlist offers GPT Image 1.5 for general-purpose generation, Imagen 4 Ultra for high realism, Ideogram V3 for typography, and Seedream 5.0 for flexible creative outputs. For AI video, additional models are available in the AI tools alongside Flux 3 Max.
