Biography

YAAHZZYWAAH (pronounced Yaa-Zee-Wah), born Nana YaaSerwaah Akuoku is an NYC-based recording and visual artist of American nationality and Ghanaian heritage. Born and raised in Harlem, NYC, her work forms connections between the hip hop culture she was immersed in as a child, her West African roots, and mainstream popular culture. By blending musical sounds and cultural references from all of these areas, YAAHZZYWAAH births a unique hybrid style of imaginative New York style hip hop that touches on both Afro-beats and pop elements.
