Robert Schumann (1810-1856) was a highly influential composer and pianist from the Romantic period, predominantly known for his piano pieces, orchestral music and Lieder (songs for vocals and piano). Schumann's career as a pianist was cut short following an injury to his right hand, leaving him to focus on composition instead. This period resulted in some of his most prolific works, including '?tudes symphoniques', 'Papillons and Carnaval' and more.
