Biography

Pietro Deiro (1888-1954) was an Italian-American accordionist and composer and is considered one of the pioneers of the instrument in popular music. He was born in Italy and began playing the accordion at a young age, immigrating to the US in 1906 and quickly establishing himself as a talented artist. He performed with many well-known musicians of his time and was one of the first accordionists to record commercially. Deiro's contributions to the accordion and popular music have earned him a place in musical history to this day.
