Edward Elgar

Biography

Sir Edward William Elgar (1857 - 1934) was an English composer. He wrote many world-famous compositions, including orchestral pieces, symphonies and concertos for violin and cello, as well as numerous choral works and chamber music. While his works have become an inseparable part of both the British and the international classical concert repertoire, he was predominantly influenced by composers from continental Europe, as opposed to Britain.
