Biography

Charles Gounod (1818 - 1893) was a French composer, mostly known for his acclaimed opera, Faust (1859). He wrote 12 operas in total, including Romeo et Juliette (1867), which also remains in the international repertory, as well as church music, orchestral and chamber music and over 100 songs in French, English and Italian.
