Awa Du É

Biography

Awa Du E started as an experiment in making music; five musicians get in a studio with nothing prepared - no songs, tunes or ideas - and just record whatever comes to mind in three days, recording live with no overdubs. Musically, the band just freely borrowed ideas from different traditions, styles and periods, minding what is right or wrong only to their ears. It borrows a lot from West African traditions, Electronic Ambient and many other sources. That turned out to be an exciting new project that turned into a recurring event as Awa du E headed out to release their second and third albums.
