Biography

One of the first Czech composers to receive worldwide recognition, Antonin Dvorak (1841 - 1904) began studying the violin at the age of 6. Drawing influences from the folk music of Moravia and Bohemia, his distinct style led him to win a prize at the Austrian State Prize for Composition, a prestigious competition of which Johannes Brahms was the leading member of the jury. Often conducting his own pieces, Dvorak traveled across the world, successfully performing his works worldwide.
