Greetings!

Please find attached four piece for your consideration - two piano pieces and two cello pieces (with string arrangement). 

(Please note that it is just the four attached pieces that I am submitting for now. I just added a Portfolio link above to a very old soundcloud account as the form needed that for the submission. The music on that soundcloud is not what I am submitting - I don''t have an online presence yet for my music ). 

A bit more about me: 

I am 29 and from Dublin, Ireland. I have been composing music in my spare time since I was 18. Composing has always been my real love and in the last six months I have started to work full time on my music and have started to work up / produce all the material I have composed in the last decade. The pieces attached were played and recorded by professional pianist Anna Yarbrough (for the piano pieces) and by professional cellist Yoed Nir (for the cello pieces), both of whom I worked with in producing the music through soundbetter.com (I retain all copyright and rights to the music). Over the rest of this year I hope to produce the rest of my material - I estimate I have between 25-30 pieces to develop from what I have composed so far and I would estimate I would have around 10 pieces produced by the end of the summer and several more are in production right now. All my composition is self-taught and I play by ear.

When not at the piano, I have been working on various book projects, including on Stoic philosophy and on Buddhism and I am currently working on a new edition of a book to support those with breast cancer. The book, The Pink Ribbon Path, was first written by my mum (who passed away three years ago) and I am publishing a new edition in her memory. I was doing a PhD on Stoic philosophy but I quit it (no more footnotes! :)) to focus on what I was really passionate about, which mainly means music. Oh and I'm also writing a sweet and shorter book about cats who meditate! :)

Artlist Bio

Patrick Ussher is a self-taught composer who lives in Dublin, Ireland. Entirely created ‘by ear’, his music is characterised by simple, heartfelt and emotive melodies. With a background in academia, he is also the author of books on philosophy and health but his real love, since childhood, has always been composing music. He now dedicates himself full-time to composing. 

Album Notes for ‘Life’s Sweetness’: 

There is no specific theme for the album as a whole, as each piece has its origin at different points over the last decade, but I think ‘Life’s Sweetness’  could be a good theme: the poetry of the every day, the quiet miracle of the ordinary and the vibrant details of everyday sensory experience. 



Led by an airy Piano, Patrick Ussher's picturesque compositions evoke a sense of innocence and nostalgia.
