I am an Australian composer and I have always had a passion for film scores, not just listening to them but actually decoding their meaning and their orchestration for as long as I can remember. For the last year I took music into my own hands and began to actually compose using virtual orchestras (sample libraries). My first gig was for a student documentary (which was sent to local film festivals) and the soundtrack gathered acclaim by the reviewers. Since then, I have been working hard to improve my sound.

I consider one of the main elements of my music to be a melancholy tone. It's something I love in the music I listen to, so naturally I implemented into my tracks. There's something I love about a track feeling happy but also sad at the same time, a bittersweet sentiment. I honed in on this for my latest album release 'An Ocean of Stars' in which the 11 songs tell a story of a lonely astronaut in space who experiences the beauty of nature, but at the cost of his own life and love. I enjoyed portraying that exact bittersweet emotion through all the tracks in that album, the contrast of hope against failure, love against loneliness and humanity against synthetic construction. 

My latest track 'For Her Heart' (January 2019) is a fantasy-medieval love piece that is fully orchestral (no electronic) inspired by James Horner's Braveheart and Joe Hisaishi's work in Studio Ghibli. I feel my skills are constantly growing, and my music would be of great use to film makers to not only exaggerate their scenes, but be a standout feature of their film to keep their audience humming the tune of an emotional melody well after they have left the screening.

The melancholic sound of my music, I feel, makes the tracks very fitting to film and other video projects as the tracks suit emotional scenes of love, dialogue and the human condition. A vital factor to my ability to compose music that fits the screen very well is my work in film making. I have had experience as a cinematographer for music videos for bands and have had a number of editing projects. This knowledge of film has allowed me to visualise scenes and compose to harness the exact emotions that the cinematography and lighting cues actually send to a viewer.

As I develop my work with more orchestral and more electronic work in the future, I would love the opportunity to share my music with film makers to make my music a part of something bigger and more expressive. To have my work make 'someone' feel 'something' would be an honour.
