Hi! I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Ardie and I'm from Holland. I am deeply inspired by poetry and specifically the mystic poetry such as Rumi, Kabir, Hafiz etc. Also, I have classical roots, I grew up listening to orchestra music only since pop music wasn't allowed in the house (haha). I am a multi instrumentalist (piano, cello, guitar, bass guitar, hammered dulcimer, flute and vocals and currently picking up the violin too) and a composer. 
As a session musician (cellist) I have worked with Martin Garrix and Dean Lewis here in the Netherlands. At this point during the pandemic I decided to shift my focus solely on recording and collaborating with other film composers, both as a cellist and as a composer. Currently I am collaborating with Vince Pope, who is a cinematic composer. 

I love film. I love telling stories in music and I deeply appreciate the more abstract sense of art. It is just so fulfilling to see how music has such a lot of value and how it is able to carry and strengthen film (and vice versa). What is interesting about my work is that the way of composing is mostly cello based. The focus is mostly on the lower register which directly makes it a little darker and warmer too. Melodies are never a random event but always charged with a story and thought through and through. Because of my background in listening solely to classical European composers I am heavily influenced by their way of expressing melody. This I have always carried with me and still tapping out of that richness in a modern context now. 
I have been scoring one short film lately and I just fell in love with the process of writing music for image. 
So I decided to apply here and see where it goes. 

I actually work under two different artist's names. Two different types of music. 
And first one is called Ardie Son. Under this name I am releasing neo classical music with a romantic and melancholic touch. (Mostly cello and piano / strings). 
The second one is called Paper Branches (which is inspired by all the mystical poetry), with a dreamy indie pop/rock orientation. I am the songwriter/producer and singer of this band.  

I see myself producing a whole lot more music for film specifically as a contemporary composer.
