Franz Liszt (1811 - 1886) was a prolific Hungarian composer and piano virtuoso from the Romantic era. He was a key representative of the New German School, leaving behind an expansive body of work that left a lasting influence on the 20th-century composers that came after him. Among his diverse works are his 12 symphonic poems, multiple sacred choral pieces and 2 piano concerti.
