Jasmine J Walker is a 25-year-old Jersey-raised, Brooklyn-based poetic powerhouse. She is a rapper, singer, actor and author. She attributes her musical and creative talents to her parents. Jasmine contributed background vocals to Joe Thomas’ song, Christmas Time is Here, in the fall of 2010. In 2013, she was a background vocalist on Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Push the Sky Away, tour.
She self-published her first poetry book, Seize the Moment, in 2016. In 2017, she wrote directed, and starred in her first short film, Bruised but Not Broken, which now has over 300,000 views on YouTube. In 2018, she published her second book, Note to Self. In 2019, she was featured on Comedy Knockout and Let’s Make a Deal.​​​​​
With preacher kid parents, it is no surprise that Jasmine’s musical prowess is deeply rooted in gospel music. She admits, “The Clark Sisters, Kirk Franklin, Hezekiah Walker, Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, The Notorious B.I.G, Mary J Blige and Nicki Minaj were my main influences as a kid and still are today.”

 

With the release of her debut album, Believe, she not only creatively depicts her life's journey but she also tackles social issues including domestic violence and child abandonment that are oftentimes overlooked and under told. Jasmine would like to be known as, “the girl from around the way with a whole lot to say.”
