Effortlessly switching between soulful belts and playful rap-singing, Paytra embraces her  lyricism over 808-heavy and danceable pop tracks. Paytra was born south of Detroit, Michigan in the small town of Lambertville to her mixed-mexicana mother and german father. She spent her childhood studying classical piano, while soaking up the iconic music of 2000s R&B and Hip Hop that she’d later find to be the leading influence of her music. She’d watch her father play in his rock band, learning the tricks of the trade early on and fantasizing about being a musician.

At the age of sixteen, Paytra took the risk of a lifetime and packed up her belongings, heading to Brooklyn, New York by herself. She knew what she wanted, but with no money and a lack of experience, she faced what most young women do in the music industry: difficulty. She credits Hip Hop music with giving her the confidence to push through hard times, while piano served as her sense of peace and nostalgia. Her natural skill of teaching piano allowed her to save up money to self-fund her career as an independent artist.

Since then, Paytra has been featured on MTV, Womanly magazine, Vlad TV, and Sirius XM’s Shade 45 radio. Her music has been heard across the world, being placed in over 150 playlists on Spotify and featured on Glits Magazine Mexico and 2-E3 Magazine China. From Detroit Pride to Orlando’s Disney World, Paytra has toured the country performing.

Her ability to pen bold lyrics over hard-hitting tracks exudes confidence and her love for life while embracing the idea of non-traditional beauty. Paytra isn’t afraid to speak her mind and go against the mold. For this reason, she’s not only become known as a business mogul, but a fierce symbol of feminism, strength, and power. Her upcoming release of her EP twenty/20 is about just that: freedom of expression.
