Andrew Weir Biography

Andrew Weir is a sound maker and musician from Perth, Western Australia. He completed a Bachelor of Musical Performance in Jazz at The Conservatorium on Music at WAAPA in Western Australia in 2003 and has been a musical performer and educator for the past 20 years. His current musical project is titled NoDrums and has also worked as a producer formerly known as Ssnoob and band leader of live electronica acts Turn and The Bosons. He has performed live in London, Liverpool, Ljubljana, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto as well as all around Australia and has supported artists such as Pale (UK), Nai Palm (Haitus Kaiyote AU), , FilFla (JP), Moskitoo (JP), Vegpher(JP), Ametsub (JP), Aoki Takamasa (JP), Oscar Key Sung (AU).  NoDrums has been producing electronic music and writing for film and theatre under different names for the past ten years and has released a small amount of independent material.
Andrew has always been interested in the random and unexpected aspects of music, primarily found within his experience of improvised music. In a live context the musician often thrives off the unexpected sounds, melodies and harmonies which occur during the interaction with other musicians. In composing music in a solitary manner he is constantly trying to incorporate randomness and unexpected surprises to guide his writing by factoring random elements into his music.
His main focus over the past two years has been working on using environmental influences such as sunlight and movement to act as external input into compositional systems.

•	Jan 2016 produced and released 7 track album “Walking South” under the name NoDrums.
•	Jan / Feb 2016 – NES Artist in residence Skagaströnd, Iceland.
•	Jan / Feb 2016 – Solin Ör light and sound installation, Skagaströnd, Iceland. (in collaboration with Shaye Preston)
•	2015 – Remixed “Your Light Shine” by New York artist Adam Sullivan and produced and released 5 track EP “OND” under the name NoDrums.
•	November 2015 – Guitarist in Black Swan State Theatre company’s production of “Next To Normal“ under MD David Young
•	2014 – Sound Design for Public Spaces site specific theatre piece
•	2014 – Solo performances in Tokyo, Kyoto and Seoul
•	Jan 2013 – Co Produced and released “What Can I Do To You?” full length The Bosons LP in Australia, UK and South Korea.
•	2013 – Guitar recordings for “Death Of A Salesman” BSSTC
